The Cognizant chief's thesis that AI pushes expertise toward the frontlines is a neat inversion of the usual 'AI kills junior jobs' panic — and, conveniently, exactly the story an IT services giant needs to be telling. The most testable claim here is the shorter path to expertise: if AI really compresses apprenticeship, firms will reorganize around flatter, smaller teams, but nobody has proven that at scale yet. The skeptical note is that broadening pyramids also erode the classic leverage-based billing model, so watch whether Cognizant's own headcount economics end up confirming the rhetoric. Worth a listen, but treat it as corporate strategy, not neutral labor-market analysis.
AI drifting capabilities to the frontlines, broadening pyramids, shorter path to expertise, interdisciplinary skills, lower entry barriers to new jobs…..my thoughts on the @wef Radio Davos podcast
