The interesting part here isn't the 5x win for OpenClaw — it's what it says about the collapsing cost of systems-level rewrites. One caveat, though: Microsoft's Go port had to preserve full spec compatibility, language services and years of accumulated edge-case behavior, while an agent-driven rewrite scoped to one project can simply ignore the long tail. So the headline speedup flatters the agent somewhat. Still, the direction is unmistakable: with a solid test suite as the safety net, agents are turning multi-quarter infrastructure projects into weekend hacks. The real bottleneck is shifting from writing code to verifying it, and that's where the next competitive edge will live.
Moved to tsrs over the weekend. Drop-in replacement. Around 5x faster for OC.
Kind of amazing that it took Microsoft a team and two years to rewrite the TS compiler in go, and now you can just let an agent rip and get sth significantly better within weeks.
