AI Crispy Talks

There is real first-hand weight behind this take — xAI stood up Colossus in months rather than years, and Musk has personally run into transformer shortages, turbine lead times and permitting walls. He is right that schedule compression is the universal multiplier: switchgear, cooling, grid equipment all carry multi-year lead times, and capital cannot buy time. Still, dismissing power as an oversimplification undersells how binding interconnection queues have become in key markets. The deeper implication is that the AI race is shifting from who can raise capital to who can industrialize deployment — an execution contest where construction logistics matter as much as model research. On that framing, he is arguably describing his own competitive edge.
“Lack of electricity” is an oversimplification. Everything is hard about bringing massive compute online at extremely high speed. If there was twice as much time, this would be relatively easy, but there is not.
