A 4B model won't keep frontier labs up at night, but that's not the point here. What stands out is the full-stack openness — weights, training data, checkpoints and code — which almost nobody in the industry actually ships, and pairing a 1M-token context window with a model that runs on a single GPU is a genuinely practical combo for air-gapped enterprise and public-sector deployments. Domyn is clearly betting on the European sovereignty wave rather than raw capability, and with Mistral already owning much of that narrative, the niche is getting crowded. The real test will be independent benchmarks and adoption: 'open and sovereign' only matters if the model is actually good. Still, on paper this is one of the more substantive sovereign-AI releases to come out of Europe, and the NVIDIA backing gives it credibility beyond marketing.
Edge is here. 🇮🇹 🇪🇺 🚀 This week at @nvidia's Public Sector Executive Forum, we unveiled Edge, the debut model in @domynai new series, trained from scratch on 13 trillion tokens using Italy’s Leonardo supercomputer, powered by NVIDIA GPUs. As @JensenHuang put it: "Open models strengthen safety and cybersecurity, accelerate innovation and diffusion…
