Nvidia is playing a familiar game: open weights as the top of a funnel that ends at the GPU checkout. Targeting always-on enterprise agents is a smart bet — agentic workloads are exactly where inference demand compounds, and enterprises want models they can fine-tune and audit. But 'open' deserves an asterisk when peak performance effectively requires Nvidia hardware; that's less philanthropy than lock-in, a playbook Meta popularized with Llama and others have since refined. The compact Bolt variants for local machines widen that funnel further. On our view, the real test is whether Super VL competes on raw capability with closed frontier models — openness alone won't keep agents running nonstop if quality lags. Whether early fine-tuning interest converts into production deployments is the metric to watch.
Nvidia's Nemotron 3.5 Super VL is an open model built to run enterprise AI agents nonstop
With Nemotron 3.5 Super VL, Nvidia is releasing an open multimodal model with 120 billion parameters for enterprise agents. Two compact Bolt models bring agents to local machines. Dozens of organizations are already fine-tuning Super VL, but getting the most …
