The Decoder's framing is refreshingly sober: behind the 'one model for everything' pitch sits a self-reported benchmark and demos that apparently still lean on human hand-holding. That gap matters, because embodied AI is littered with impressive lab videos that fall apart outside curated conditions. Still, if Gemini 4 Argon genuinely unifies control, simulation generation, and training-video evaluation, it would compress the robotics stack in a way rivals like Figure's Helix or NVIDIA's GR00T are also chasing. The real test won't be ERQA, a benchmark Google designed itself, but third-party deployments on messy, heterogeneous hardware. For now, treat this as a credible opening move in the robot-foundation-model race, not a solved problem.
Google wants Gemini 4 Argon to be the only AI model robots need Google's Gemini 4 Argon controls robots, generates simulations from photos or sketches, and evaluates training videos. On Google's own ERQA benchmark, it scores 87 percent. But the published example prompts show that the demos still need a lot of human guidance. The article Google wan…
