It's completely bizarre to me how many intelligent people seem to mix up claims about AI first-person consciousness with intelligence. I don't think entities need to be conscious to mimic or even have real intelligence.

As an aside, very few AI safety people have seen Terminator 2. I know this because it's a perfect movie and I've had a side quest over the past few years to get influential safety people to watch Terminator 2 with me.
